INSIDE THE RADICAL DESIGN MOVEMENT OF 1960s FLORENCE new documentary 'radical landscapes' offers an insider's look into the experimental scene that was florence in the 1960s. the film follows director elettra fiumi as she embarks on a quest to uncover the multimedia archive she inherited from her late father, fabrizio fiumi, who, together with giorgio birelli, carlo caldini and paolo galli, formed architectural collective gruppo 9999 in 1968. among other things, the group is known for founding the revolutionary 'space electronic', a multimedia, psychedelic space that served as an architecture school by day, and a disco by night. PHONOGRAPH PLAYS PLASTIC WASTE LIKE A RECORD an old clock, a cordless telephone, and an egg carton are given new life in korean artist duo ujoo+limheeyoung’s 'song from plastic'. inscribed with grooves on their surfaces, the discarded plastic objects take on the role of a record, played by a phonograph-like device. see more submissions by our readers here, and find out how to upload your own project here. the weekly is an inside review curated by sofia lekka angelopoulou. |
