barneys new york opens high-end cannabis lifestyle store

there has been a huge cultural shift when it comes to cannabis. we’ve mapped the changes from taboo toking to the weed-induced wellness routines, and now we’re seeing major retailers get in on the burgeoning new industry. barneys new york becomes the first to introduce a cannabis lifestyle shop with the opening of ‘the high end,’ a luxury cannabis and wellness concept store open in its beverly hills flagship store.

‘the high end‘ stocks an extensive selection of accessories and wellness products. customers can peruse hand blown glass pipes, luxe rolling papers, one-of-a-kind vintage ashtrays, sterling silver grinders, and cosmetics labeled as containing cannabidiol, a non-high inducing part of the cannabis plant. 

set across a 300-square-foot space on the fifth floor of their beverly hills flagship location, the concept shop has a sleek, ’70s california minimal vibe. products are displayed inside glass vitrines set on plinth-style units in marble-accented interiors.

whilst marijuana remains banned by federal law, california is one of 10 US states that has legalized the drug for recreational use. barneys doesn’t sell any marijuana in stores, but the high end concept features an exclusive partnership with luxe cannabis brand beboe. this means that anyone in the market for it can be assisted by one of beboe’s sales representatives, using an iPad to order marijuana for home delivery by a company called emjay.

‘the high end’ is available on the fifth floor of barneys beverly hills and launches on barneys.com on march 29. according to business of fashion, barneys plans to bring its cannabis-themed ‘the high end’ products to other stores.
